Why That Low Moving Rate is Too Good to Be True

It’s all too common for an illegitimate moving company to offer an attractively low rate. And, as someone who is probably up to their eyeballs in unexpected moving expenses, it’s probably on your mind to take this low offer.

But, it’s important to think clearly here: sure, this moving company may be offering an awesome rate, but it will probably come at the expense of all your worldly possessions. Rogue movers are scamming unsuspecting customers all the time, so it’s best to pay a little extra for moving services in order to invest in trustworthy movers.

While a super cheap price for moving services doesn’t always indicate rogue movers, it certainly does raise a red flag. If a moving company can offer shockingly low rates, it means they’re skimping in some other area. Perhaps it’s a lack of proper training or equipment for their movers, maybe it’s a licensing problem, or maybe they’re not paying their staff a fair wage. Whatever the scenario, you need to protect your things and yourself from liability.

Take it from us. Whether you are moving locally or going from coast to coast, you will want a reputable moving company on your side.

The Best Inventory is Easier Than You Think

When you’re moving your home or you’re moving the location of your office, one thing is certain: the process is usually a nightmare. The easiest and most recommended way to bring down some of that chaos is to create a comprehensive numbering system for all the boxes you'll pack.

We know, that sounds really complicated. But actually, it's simple: make sure to give all your boxes a number. Write it in huge, bold lettering on several sides of the box so that there's no confusion. When you pack items in a box, write down or make a digital list of everything that's going into the box. When you make several small inventories, you can easily compile them to create a large, full inventory of everything you own.

In this method, you can know exactly where everything is located at all times. Additionally, you will be able to unpack with ease and even remain more organized when you get settled into your new place.

Question In 1895 Karl Benz designed and built the first truck in history by using the internal combustion engine. Later that year some of Benz's trucks gave into modernization and went on to become the first bus by the Netphener. This would be the first motor bus company in history. Hardly a year later, in 1986, another internal combustion engine truck was built by a man named Gottlieb Daimler. As people began to catch on, other companies, such as Peugeot, Renault, and Bussing, also built their own versions. In 1899, the first truck in the United States was built by Autocar and was available with two optional horsepower motors, 5 or 8.

Question A boat trailer is a trailer designed to launch, retrieve, carry and sometimes store boats.

Question The number one hit on the Billboard chart in 1976 was quite controversial for the trucking industry. "Convoy," is a song about a group of reckless truck drivers bent on evading laws such as toll booths and speed traps. The song went on to inspire the film "Convoy", featuring defiant Kris Kristofferson screaming "piss on your law!" After the film's release, thousands of independent truck drivers went on strike. The participated in violent protests during the 1979 energy crisis. However, similar strikes had occurred during the 1973 energy crisis.

The notion of business logistics incorporates all sectors of the industry. It is used as a means to manage the fruition of project life cycles, supply chains, and resultant efficiency.

Question

Implemented in 2014, the National Registry, requires all Medical Examiners (ME) who conduct physical examinations and issue medical certifications for interstate CMV drivers to complete training on FMCSA’s physical qualification standards, must pass a certification test. This is to demonstrate competence through periodic training and testing. CMV drivers whose medical certifications expire must use MEs on the National Registry for their examinations.

FMCSA has reached its goal of at least 40,000 certified MEs signing onto the registry. All this means is that drivers or movers can now find certified medical examiners throughout the country who can perform their medical exam. FMCSA is preparing to issue a follow-on “National Registry 2” rule stating new requirements. In this case, MEs are to submit medical certificate information on a daily basis. These daily updates are sent to the FMCSA, which will then be sent to the states electronically. This process will dramatically decrease the chance of drivers falsifying medical cards.

Question The American Association of State Highway Officials (AASHO) was organized and founded on December 12, 1914. On November 13, 1973, the name was altered to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. This slight change in name reflects a broadened scope of attention towards all modes of transportation. Despite the implications of the name change, most of the activities it is involved in still gravitate towards highways.
