According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 45.2 square miles (117 km 2 ), of which, 44.5 square miles (115 km 2 ) of it is land and 0.7 square miles (1.8 km 2 ) of it (1.51%) is water.
It is approximately 40 minutes from Wilmington and 15 minutes from the Intracoastal Waterway.
