started off well, quickly went down hill. Damaged property and gave us the run around now for 3 months. We have since had to file with the AG of CA and BBB. The use call avoidance and pretended they had no idea that we filed a claim. Owner claims and is using Military to get business but I am suspect of who he really is now. I would definitely move on to another, more reputable company

Potentially the most noticeably awful moving organization out there! Purchaser be careful, there is an explanation behind all the negative audits. Wish I had seen the audits before contracting with them to move from NY to Houston.

I originally hired them to pick up my stuff on June 18th. They gave me a window of 9-12pm and didn't show up until almost 3pm. They didn't let me know they were running so far behind, and even after repeated calls I never got informed of their delay. I could've worked a half day Upon arriving, the movers told me they wouldn't be able to complete the job because they're only allowed to work 10 hours in a day. Repeated calls to Clutter support yielded nothing for hours. They finally agreed to come the next day to take the rest of the stuff they were obligated to take. Thus, my wife had to take a half day off. The next day they were again cutoff at the 10 hour point and had to send another crew to finish the job, which thus required us to find emergency pick up and care of our son from camp. They then were obligated to drop off my stuff in my new place on July 5th. Again, with no heads-up, the movers showed up and told me they only had a small fraction of my stuff. Repeated calls to Clutter over 3 hours of waiting yielded in the result that it would be at least another week before they can bring the rest of my stuff. I thus took today off and will have to take another day off at least to accommodate them. They're holding my stuff hostage, since they don't allow us to come to the warehouse

BAIT AND SWITCH, MAJOR DECEPTION... It's 3 months later, and what started out as a nightmare has only gotten worse. Sally from Hilford finally called me AFTER my review hit YELP--what a surprise. She claimed that she "wanted to help" after hearing about the atrociously unprofessional service I received. She sent out her rep April to see if my stainless steel doors could be "fixed with putty" or the "dents knocked out"--um, no. April was in my house fewer than 4 minutes and agreed the damage was irreparable (she DID NOT take pictures of the fridge). Next, Sally offered to buy me a used refrigerator she found on Craigslist--NOT the same brand and who knows how old. She reminded me I "signed for the $0.60/pound insurance" but she "wanted to help me...IF I WOULD TAKE DOWN THE YELP REVIEW." I turned down that fridge, but found TWO of MY exact model on Craigslist for $500 each. At this point, Sally agreed to pay me $500, but they would be picking up the damaged fridge because they had salvage rights. I agreed. After searching and going to look at several used refrigerators, I was uncomfortable buying one that I did not know the history of--mine was only 5 years old and meticulously taken care of. Therefore, I had to go out and buy a new one, intending to put the $500 towards my $1640 purchase of an equal fridge. I let Sally know, and she agreed (in writing) to bring me a check for $500 check and pick up the fridge the movers damaged on 9/9/2020. When the rep April arrived on 9/9, she took pictures, told me, "We aren't taking the fridge" and handed me a check for $270--NOT $500. READY FOR THIS? After 7 additional weeks of lying to me, Sally claims the fridge is not the original fridge in my claim (despite my pictures not only from the day of the move, but of the fridge IN MY kitchen--all sent to her, and April NOT taking a single picture at her first visit to my house). It was literally sitting in my dining room for a week after my new one was delivered. The delivery men could have taken this damaged fridge away, but I waiting for Hilford to take it...then she left it for me to dispose of and paid me only the insurance amount DESPITE HER MOVERS NOT BRINGING A REFRIGERATOR DOLLY TO MOVE MY FRIDGE! This company DOES NOT have a stitch of integrity. What could have been a quick response to my claim, an acceptance of responsibility for their movers NOT coming prepared to move items that were ON THEIR QUOTE, has now turned into 3 months of additional stress and heartache. Save yourself a lawsuit and book your move with a different company. POSTED 7/24/2020 PLEASE READ! I needed help to move literally one street over and what I got was a disaster! The "movers" DID NOT BRING a refrigerator dolly TO MOVE THE FRIDGE! They put it on a regular dolly--NO BLANKET OR PROTECTION from the metal--which scratched the side, then rolled it down the side of my house with the doors facing out and DENTED BOTH DOORS on the gas meter! 6 weeks...no response to claim.

Words have always had a different meaning or have been used interchangeably with others across all cultures. In the United States, Canada, and the Philippines the word "truck" is mostly reserved for larger vehicles. Although in Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, the word "truck" is generally reserved for large vehicles. In Australia and New Zealand, a pickup truck is usually called a ute, short for "utility". While over in South Africa it is called a bakkie (Afrikaans: "small open container"). The United Kingdom, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Ireland, and Hong Kong use the "lorry" instead of truck, but only for medium and heavy types.

As we've learned the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956 was crucial in the construction of the Interstate Highway System. Described as an interconnected network of the controlled-access freeway. It also allowed larger trucks to travel at higher speeds through rural and urban areas alike. This act was also the first to allow the first federal largest gross vehicle weight limits for trucks, set at 73,208 pounds (33,207 kg). The very same year, Malcolm McLean pioneered modern containerized intermodal shipping. This allowed for the more efficient transfer of cargo between truck, train, and ships.

In the United States, shipments larger than about 7,000 kg (15,432 lb) are classified as truckload freight (TL). It is more efficient and affordable for a large shipment to have exclusive use of one larger trailer. This is opposed to having to share space on a smaller Less than Truckload freight carrier.

In 2009, the book 'Trucking Country: The Road to America's Walmart Economy' debuted, written by author Shane Hamilton. This novel explores the interesting history of trucking and connects certain developments. Particularly how such development in the trucking industry have helped the so-called big-box stored. Examples of these would include Walmart or Target, they dominate the retail sector of the U.S. economy. Yet, Hamilton connects historical and present-day evidence that connects such correlations.

Many modern trucks are powered by diesel engines, although small to medium size trucks with gas engines exist in the United States. The European Union rules that vehicles with a gross combination of mass up to 3,500 kg (7,716 lb) are also known as light commercial vehicles. Any vehicles exceeding that weight are known as large goods vehicles.

The Federal Bridge Law handles relations between the gross weight of the truck, the number of axles, and the spacing between them. This is how they determine is the truck can be on the Interstate Highway system. Each state gets to decide the maximum, under the Federal Bridge Law. They determine by vehicle in combination with axle weight on state and local roads

There are certain characteristics of a truck that makes it an "off-road truck". They generally standard, extra heavy-duty highway-legal trucks. Although legal, they have off-road features like front driving axle and special tires for applying it to tasks such as logging and construction. The purpose-built off-road vehicles are unconstrained by weighing limits, such as the Libherr T 282B mining truck.

Popular among campers is the use of lightweight trailers, such as aerodynamic trailers. These can be towed by a small car, such as the BMW Air Camper. They are built with the intent to lower the tow of the vehicle, thus minimizing drag.

As we know in the trucking industry, some trailers are part of large trucks, which we call semi-trailer trucks for transportation of cargo. Trailers may also be used in a personal manner as well, whether for personal or small business purposes.

A business route (occasionally city route) in the United States and Canada is a short special route connected to a parent numbered highway at its beginning, then routed through the central business district of a nearby city or town, and finally reconnecting with the same parent numbered highway again at its end.

Business routes always have the same number as the routes they parallel. For example, U.S. 1 Business is a loop off, and paralleling, U.S. Route 1, and Interstate 40 Business is a loop off, and paralleling, Interstate 40.

Signage of business routes varies, depending on the type of route they are derived from. Business routes paralleling U.S. and state highways usually have exactly the same shield shapes and nearly the same overall appearance as the routes they parallel, with a rectangular plate reading "BUSINESS" placed above the shield (either supplementing or replacing the directional plate, depending on the preference of the road agency). In order to better identify and differentiate alternate routes from the routes they parallel, some states such as Maryland are beginning to use green shields for business routes off U.S. highways. In addition, Maryland uses a green shield for business routes off state highways with the word "BUSINESS" in place of "MARYLAND" is used for a state route.

As the American Interstate Highway System began to expand in the 1950's, the trucking industry began to take over a large market share. That is, a large share of the transportation of goods throughout the country. Before this era, trains had been relied on to transport the bulk of the goods cross country or state to state. The Interstate Highway System was influential as it allows for merchandise to travel door to door with ease. Since then, truckload carriers have taken advantage of the interstate system, especially when performing a long distance move. Typically, they bring the merchandise from one distribution center of the country to another part of the country. The increase in truckload freight transportation has reduced the time it takes to transport the goods. Whether the freight was manufactured or produced for the different areas internationally, the time it takes to transport goods has decreased dramatically.

Implemented in 2014, the National Registry, requires all Medical Examiners (ME) who conduct physical examinations and issue medical certifications for interstate CMV drivers to complete training on FMCSA’s physical qualification standards, must pass a certification test. This is to demonstrate competence through periodic training and testing. CMV drivers whose medical certifications expire must use MEs on the National Registry for their examinations. FMCSA has reached its goal of at least 40,000 certified MEs signing onto the registry. All this means is that drivers or movers can now find certified medical examiners throughout the country who can perform their medical exam. FMCSA is preparing to issue a follow-on “National Registry 2” rule stating new requirements. In this case, MEs are to submit medical certificate information on a daily basis. These daily updates are sent to the FMCSA, which will then be sent to the states electronically. This process will dramatically decrease the chance of drivers falsifying medical cards.

The word cargo is in reference to particular goods that are generally used for commercial gain. Cargo transportation is generally meant to mean by ship, boat, or plane. However, the term now applies to all types of freight, now including goods carried by train, van, or truck. This term is now used in the case of goods in the cold-chain, as perishable inventory is always cargo in transport towards its final home. Even when it is held in climate-controlled facilities, it is important to remember perishable goods or inventory have a short life.

The FMCSA has established rules to maintain and regulate the safety of the trucking industry. According to FMCSA rules, driving a goods-carrying CMV more than 11 hours or to drive after having been on duty for 14 hours, is illegal. Due to such heavy driving, they need a break to complete other tasks such as loading and unloading cargo, stopping for gas and other required vehicle inspections, as well as non-working duties such as meal and rest breaks. The 3-hour difference between the 11-hour driving limit and 14 hour on-duty limit gives drivers time to take care of such duties. In addition, after completing an 11 to 14 hour on duty period, the driver much be allowed 10 hours off-duty.

In 1984 the animated TV series The Transformers told the story of a group of extraterrestrial humanoid robots. However, it just so happens that they disguise themselves as automobiles. Their leader of the Autobots clan, Optimus Prime, is depicted as an awesome semi-truck.

The decade of the 70's in the United States was a memorable one, especially for the notion of truck driving. This seemed to dramatically increase popularity among trucker culture. Throughout this era, and even in today's society, truck drivers are romanticized as modern-day cowboys and outlaws. These stereotypes were due to their use of Citizens Band (CB) radios to swap information with other drivers. Information regarding the locations of police officers and transportation authorities. The general public took an interest in the truckers 'way of life' as well. Both drivers and the public took interest in plaid shirts, trucker hats, CB radios, and CB slang.

In order to load or unload bots and other cargo to and from a trailer, trailer winches are designed for this purpose. They consist of a ratchet mechanism and cable. The handle on the ratchet mechanism is then turned to tighten or loosen the tension on the winch cable. Trailer winches vary, some are manual while others are motorized. Trailer winches are most typically found on the front of the trailer by towing an A-frame.

Moving companies that operate within the borders of a particular state are usually regulated by the state DOT. Sometimes the public utility commission in that state will take care of it. This only applies to some of the U.S. states such as in California (California Public Utilities Commission) or Texas (Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. However, no matter what state you are in it is always best to make sure you are compliant with that state

Driver's licensing has coincided throughout the European Union in order to for the complex rules to all member states. Driving a vehicle weighing more than 7.5 tons (16,535 lb) for commercial purposes requires a certain license. This specialist licence type varies depending on the use of the vehicle and number of seat. Licences first acquired after 1997, the weight was reduced to 3,500 kilograms (7,716 lb), not including trailers.
